First Holy Communions 2021
Dear Parents and carers,
The children in Year 4 prepared beautifully for the wonderful sacrament of Holy Communion last year.
Unfortunately, due to Covid 19, First Holy Communion plans needed to change. At this time and for the foreseeable future it will not be possible to hold large gatherings.
I know as parents and carers you want your children to receive the Blessed Sacrament as soon as possible and as safely as possible.
In order to help maintain safe numbers at church we will ask families to sign up for a Mass using the school parentmail system. As Our Lady of the Sacred Heart is a small church we will welcome one family at a time.
From April 24th 2021 one family with a child in year 3 or year 4 at each Mass will present their child to receive the Blessed Sacrament. A front pew will be reserved for the child and their family. Parents or carers and siblings are invited to join the child, wider family members are invited to join us via the parish webcam. I ask for your understanding and consideration towards other parishioners in this matter.
Mass is celebrated at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Bulkington on Tuesday , Wednesday , Thursday and Friday mornings at 9.30 am on Saturdays at 4.00pm and on Sundays at 9.30am and 10.30 am.
School have assured me that children are very welcome to take time out of the school day to attend Mass with their family and receive their first Holy Communion.
There will be over 70 Masses to choose from so we look forward to welcoming every child!
The same system will be used across the MAC to ensure our children can grow spiritually during this difficult time.
Children will prepare to receive their First Holy communion in school and I know you will continue to support them at home. They will have a day of prayer prior to 24th April. The children will have the opportunity to reflect, and pray and to examine their consciences and make acts of contrition. They will be able to receive the sacrament of reconciliation when restrictions lift.
When restrictions fully lift sometime in the future, I know many families will be joining together to celebrate their children’s First Holy Communions.
I do hope these are very joyous occasions with much celebrating!
